Edited by: Letifer Deus on 19/11/2009 22:50:57 Oddly, my post saying how much of a FAILURE this is gets deleted. Yet the people posting one-word replies of "cool!" and "sweet!" get to stay. Remember, you're CCP, not CCCP.
-Motherships are back to being in the "land of the forgotten" with AFs, deimos, rockets, nag, etc.
-Nag goes back to split weapon suckage, almost immediately after it became worthwhile as a result of MASSIVE player petitions and interaction with YOUR balancing staff.
-titan goes from driveby subcap gang killer to doing nothing but jump bridging and instaganking carriers and dreads aggrod on stations. Because let's be honest: in a major cap fight (on that might bring titans), killing a dread every 10 minutes means nothing and doing just over dread dps from regular weapons will never get a dread to stay on the field.
All in all, BRAVO! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

While we all appreciate that this is a very hot topic item...
This is not a "hot topic". Hot topic implies a topic with two strong sides like, say, abortion. What you have here is more like the topic of pedophilia or mass genocide. You have almost everyone fervently against it, and then you have the few people that are very misguided/messed up in the head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

I think motherships should at least get half the planned HP boost. You can always adjust that later.
What they should do is come out and promise us they are going to go back to working on changes right after dominion hits, in a transparent fashion involving 2 way dialogue -not just nozh putting up vague posts/introducing bogus changes with no explanation- and have it ready proper for dominion 1.1. I would also like them to promise each CCP employee will punch Nozh in the gut at least once for us, but that might be asking too much.
Either that or straight up delay dominion so it comes out as something well done instead of a smelly ice turd. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

Originally by: CCP Nozh As stated in the blog, Titans primary role should not be direct damage. We still feel like they need more defined roles
In other words: we don't want it to be this, but we have no f'ing clue what we do want it to be. Maybe you could start playing the game and it would give you some ideas.
Quote: this will be worked on along with proper Mothership changes.
"proper" mothership changes. I like that. Because what was introduced by Abathur, extensively tested and near-universally praised by the community wasn't "proper". And LOL @ the F/B damage vs. phoenix graph. After all the comments concerning TPs you still insist on putting 1, 2 and 3 TPs on there.
WHAT do you want motherships doing if it doesn't involve killing things? WHY have you not even bothered to at least put in the badly needed and fairly neutral (as in they will likely fit in with whatever you DO decide) HP and jump range boosts? Something that would at least make moms have some reason to leave a pos.
WHEN are you going to get around to coming up with your "proper" mothership changes? This is an enormously serious question given CCP's track record with things given the "we'll take another look at them" line and with response times to needed changes in general (for example: how long it took for you guys to bother looking at moms/titans in the first place).
DO YOU play this game, at all? I'm assuming the answer is absolutely "no" based on you reasoning behind many changes you do, combined with the fact that if you DID play you would have said so long ago.
I'm also glad that 30 pages of angry/concerned responses is given a response that took no more than 5 minutes to write. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

Originally by: CCP Hammer People are spewing a lot of hate at CCP Nozh but instead itÆs a case of shooting the messenger.
"shooting the messenger" implies the person delivering the news has nothing to do with the news being delivered. This is absolutely not the case here.
Quote: Even during the SISI tests they still werenÆt falling into place for us.
Yet none of you ever expressed this concern. nor did you ever say "hey, we are concerned these ships might end up being too powerful and here's why. Thoughts/concerns/suggestions?". What happened was massive changes were suddenly thrown on SISI weeks before the set deployment date and then none of you bothered to mention a word for 2 days. And even then what was said was vague, short and full of pretty obvious misconceptions as far as how things work on TQ.
Quote: They were potentially too powerful and that would have resulted in a small minority having a lot of fun at the cost of thousands who would be instapopped in 0.0.
The thousands of what were going to be instapopped? If you were worried about F/B effectiveness against subcaps (mainly with rapier/huggin TP/web support), increase explosion velocity, but adjust damage so dps against dreads remains about the same. DPS against carriers/supercaps would go up, but as they could partially speedtank F/Bs anyways, this is NBD.
Quote: So we tried to tune them again to a point we felt was balanced, but then the role of the ships wasnÆt clear once we started to lower the damage. Instead, they started to blur with dreads and carriers.
You cut their price and damage in half, over double the explosion radius then made them dockable. Enormous changes that weren't thought through at all. That isn't "tuning".
Quote: We could have tried to put out ôsomethingö just because we have been talking about it, but then we would be in a situation where players are getting into ships that might very well change again in a coming patch. Given the amount of work to get one of these we just didnÆt feel that was the right thing to do.
So promise us to continue working on mom changes immediately after Dom is sucessfully put in and that you'll set your goal as having proper changes implemented in dominion 1.1. That isn't hard.
Quote: So while supercarriers were on the test server and had gone through plenty of testing it still wasnÆt guaranteed to end up on TQ in that exact state. Only what lands on TQ on patch day is guaranteed.
See my 2nd reply
Quote: None of us comes to work thinking of ways to enrage the playerbase. As the Lead Game Designer, I take my responsibility seriously and that includes taking responsibility for any decisions made by our team.
Then maybe you should make playing the actual game mandatory. That way you wont have things like suggesting moms fit 5 DCUs to have effective DPS, or require multiple TPs to be effective against their primary target (which can't be TP'd 99% of the time, anyways), or letting them dock, something that was scoffed at by CCP staff at fanfest and by the vast majority of intelligent cap pilots as a terrible, terrible idea.
Quote: None of us comes to work thinking of ways to enrage the playerbase.
Obviously not, but the poor way things some things are handled by your staff does a very good job of enraging us, regardless. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

What's on SISI now isn't a bad tie-over if they would just fix the f'ing explosion radius on compact torps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

Originally by: Honest Smedley In the form everyone liked, they were too powerful
What he said was they had the "potential" to be overpowered, not that they were. There is a huge difference. They also had a potential to end up as not a big factor in 0.0 cap warfare due to dreads still being the vast majority of DPS and EHP brought to cap fights. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

Major alliances can steamroll everyone without SC's and titans...

Edited by: Letifer Deus on 23/11/2009 05:22:15 I would love to see another response/update from Nozh. Preferably one that doesn't begin with "Let's see..." and doesn't involve graphs with target painters on dreads. I feel a bit more time could be devoted to this issue, given the importance of caps and supercaps to the entirety of 0.0. Say...a 30 minute Q & A session? It's something that should have been done before this all became a severe sh*tstorm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |

Originally by: Soleil Fournier There's only one logical way that they can take motherships from here:
Flagships. Make the ships capital command ships that revolve around bonuses. Give them some capital fleet command modules.
What set of bonuses would you put in these "fleet command modules" that would be useful, balanced and (of course) aren't the same as regular command module bonuses? I say this not out of attack but genuine interest in the idea.
Quote: They'd finally have a reason to put resources into protecting the ship for reasons other than 'Nyx pilot X' farming killmails.
SCs were never going to "farm" killmails, they did 2x dread dps, not 10x. And the reason you would have protected it was to help ensure your side wins the battle. If the only reason you'd help protect/keep alive a supercap is if it's giving you bonuses, that's enormously selfish. Plus, carriers have almost nothing to do in cap fights as is, so having supercaps on the field, period, would be a vast improvement in their usefulness.
Quote: I think the Flagship should get more DPS than a dreadnought though since it's such a massive ship and hasn't instadamage, but that balance is up to CCP to set.
Agreed, if the DPS isn't very significant, it simply isn't worth risking ~400m in easily destroyable, delayed damage to even field them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Brought to you by the letter ARRR!" |
